When Mia's family packs up everything they own and moves to the country, nothing feels right. The sounds are different, the light is different, her room is different. Even the smell of the air is different. And leaving her best friend is hardest thing she's ever done.

Mia's Country Adventures
2 books
Mia’s Country Adventures is a heartfelt chapter-book series for ages 7–12. When nine-year-old Mia Hoffman’s family moves from the city to a working campground in the country, she must leave behind her best friend, Lexie, and everything familiar. Follow along with Mia as she experiences a new way of life, new responsibilities, and the slow, surprising work of building a life in an unfamiliar place. Each book follows Mia and her family—her parents Johann and Helen, and her younger brothers Lukas and Max—as they settle into Pine Grove Campground. The stories are grounded in faith as Mia discovers everyday courage, the value of showing up for ordinary work, and the quiet strength that comes from faith, family and friendship. Horses, campground guests, county fairs, and the changing seasons all become part of Mia’s growing world. Gentle, hopeful, faith-filled and rooted in real family life, Mia’s Country Adventures invites young readers to walk alongside a girl learning that home can be found in more than one place—and that the next right thing is often enough to begin again.

Meet L. K. Skala
Hi! I'm L. K. Skala, writer, dreamer, and lifelong lover of books and stories. I grew up as the kid who always had her nose in a book — usually under the covers with a flashlight long after bedtime (my Mom would get so mad!) Stories were my safe place, my adventure, my way of shutting out or trying to make sense of a world that sometimes felt too big and often confusing.
When I was five, my family did just what Mia's did: bought a campground and moved to the country.

- Libraries are the most awesome places! When I recently visited New York City for the first time, one of my first stops was the New York Public Library. It was huge!
- How many times have you moved?I've moved twelve times in my life, all before age 30. By the time I was Mia's age, I was on my 5th move and 3rd school. How about you?
- I love, love, love to read...and often am reading multiple books at once, some via Kindle, some physical and some on audio! Can you relate?
